lyrics

Drug deep in the summer, treatment in the winter
It doesn’t get better, it just gets different
It doesn't get worse, it’s always at it’s worst, it just gets shrouded in new terms and more distant
Drug deep in the summer, just as deep in the winter
So deep in snow that the cold doesn’t shiver the hand and the stone doesn’t quiver when he throws it
So cold it ain't’ glass but it shatters just like it and breaks into a million reflections to show that niceness is just a guise and poison is just a guide to the time when darkness fills space like light did
Off balance, fell to the challenge like love on it’s flip side and tightness of throat is coined as quiet but silence can’t disguise it
He’s really a nice guy, he’s just been bit by a bug that made home beneath skin and ripped veins so the flow couldn’t nourish within he can’t fight it
I tell him to get right
I show him the flame I harbor and point out the candle in his heart but he won’t light it
I point like, how don’t you see how bright it might get? Look at me! Don’t you want to experience what life is?
He falls to his knees or maybe he’s just knee deep and I can’t see the difference.
I never asked him to pray to me but he says family is the highest power he’s ever found righteous
I said I know the past is folded into skin but the cells can be reborn and the lines can be redrawn in ways that meet your needs bro
Why can’t you look ahead and be excited?
I asked him to believe in the future and that green grass and flora is here for him if he’d just get out the door he’d see that sun would not ignore him and he could grow from a bare stick to a lush forest and he turned to me and said I’m a good sis, turned trees to a nice spliff. Showed me arms with bare sleeves so I could see just where the veins ripped and told me I could try another day but today is not a gift it’s just, this.
